Alex Clarke is new to me. I haven’t been around the scene much for several years and have missed a lot. So here I am catching up. I love her choice of songs, her choice of sideman and her sax playing. I hear flashes of other players in both her alto and tenor playing but mostly she already sounds like herself. She is young, but so were Dave Newton and Clark when they first recorded – (the mighty Dave Green too, although I was still in grade school at the time).
